1 CCO is a set of rules surrounding various elements from CDWA (which contains elments and rules) and VRA Core (which contains elements); it is more directly analogous to AACR and DACS.
2 CDWA Lite includes additional “wrappers,” attributes, and sub-elements that are not included in this mapping.
3 Based on the DCMES Elements available July 11, 2000. The EAD DTD contains three major segments — <eadheader> and <frontmatter>, which describe the finding aid as a work; and <archdesc>, which describes the archival materials that are the subject of the finding aid.

Bibliography:

CDWA: Categories for the Description of Works of Art http://www.getty.edu/research/conducting_research/standards/cdwa/. The CDWA describes the content of art databases by articulating a conceptual framework for describing and accessing information about works of art, architecture, other material culture, groups and collections of works, and related images. The CDWA includes 381 categories and subcategories. A small subset of categories are considered core in that they represent the minimum information necessary to identify and describe a work.

CCO: Cataloging Cultural Objects http://www.vraweb.org/ccoweb//. Published by ALA in June 2006. CCO provides guidelines for selecting, ordering, and formatting data used to populate catalog records based on core categories in CDWA and VRA Core.

CDWA Lite: http://www.getty.edu/research/conducting_research/standards/cdwa/cdwalite/index.html. CDWA Lite is an XML schema to describe core records for works of art and material culture based on CDWA and CCO.

VRA Core 4.0: http://www.vraweb.org/datastandards/VRA_Core4_Welcome.html. Produced by the Visual Resources Association, VRA Core 4.0 is an XML expression of the VRA Core metadata element set as well as an initial blueprint of how those elements should be structured.

MARC: http://www.loc.gov/marc/. Produced by the Library of Congress, the MARC formats are standards for the representation and communication of bibliographic and related information in machine-readable form.

MODS: Metadata Object Description Schema http://www.loc.gov/standards/mods/. MODS is schema for a bibliographic element set that may be used to carry selected data from a subset of existing MARC 21 records as well as to enable the creation of original resource description records.

Dublin Core: Dublin Core Metadata Initiative http://dublincore.org/. The Dublin Core is an open forum engaged in the development of interoperable online metadata standards that support a broad range of purposes and business models.

DACS: Describing Archives: A Content Standard http://www.archivists.org/catalog/pubDetail.asp?objectID=1279. DACS was officially approved by the Society of American Archivists in 2004. It is an output-neutral set of rules for describing archives, personal papers, and manuscript collections, and can be applied to all material types. It is the US implementation of international standards ISAD(G) and ISAAR(CPF)) for the description of archival materials and their creators.

EAD: Encoded Archival Description http://www.loc.gov/ead/ead.html. The EAD Document Type Definition (DTD) is a standard for encoding archival finding aids using XML, maintained by the Library of Congress in partnership with the Society of American Archivists.

Object ID: http://www.object-id.com/. Object ID is an international standard for describing cultural objects developed from a subset of the CDWA and in collaboration with the museum community, police and customs agencies, the art trade, insurance industry, and valuers of art and antiques.

CIMI: Consortium for the Computer Interchange of Museum Information http://www.unt.edu/wmoen/projects/CIMI/HarmonProfile1.htm. The CIMI-1 Attribute Set is part of a Z39.50 Profile for cultural heritage information.

FDA Guide: Guide to the Description of Architectural Drawings http://www.getty.edu/research/conducting_research/standards/fda/. Consistent with the format and rules of CDWA, but containing guidelines, conventions, and standards that focus specifically on architectural drawings and documents.
